Anjan Bose, Ph.D., Regents Professor of Power Engineering, Washington State University

|
Anjan Bose is a Regents Professor and the Distinguished Professor of Electric Power Engineering at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, where he also served as the Dean of the College of Engineering & Architecture from 1998 to 2005. He is a leading researcher on the operation and control of the electric power grid. He has worked in the electric power industry as well as academe for over 35 years. Dr. Bose is a Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He was the recipient of the Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award, the Third Millenium Medal, and the Herman Halperin Electric Transmission & Distribution Award from the IEEE. He has been recognized by both Iowa State University and the Indian Institute of Technology with their distinguished alumnus awards. He has served on several editorial boards and on many technical committees and conference organizations. He was appointed by the governor to the board of directors of the Washington Technology Center, and by the US Secretary of Energy on the committee to study the 1999 and 2003 power blackouts. He has served on several committees of the US National Academies including those for Engineering Education, Cybersecurity Research and Power Grid Security. He has consulted for many electric power companies and related government agencies throughout the world. |

Eric Mewhinney, Manager of Innovation and Sustainability, Smart Grid Development Program, BC Hydro

Eric Mewhinney is the Manager of Innovation and Sustainability for BC Hydro's Smart Grid Development Program. Eric has been helping to lead the development of the company's Smart Grid strategy for over two years, and leads R&D for the distribution function of the utility. He represents BC Hydro on NIST's Smart Grid Interoperability Panel, the Gridwise Alliance, and the newly formed Canadian Smart Grid Forum, all of which are interested in developing standards for Interoperability of the Smart Grid. Prior to joining BC Hydro, he worked on energy management for a national telecommunications company having responsibility for energy efficiency programs and energy and carbon reporting. Eric holds a Master's of Science in Hydrogeology from the University of Waterloo and a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto. He has been a resident of BC for the almost 14 years. |

Jasvir Gill, CEO, Alert Enterprise

Jasvir Gill is the Founder and CEO of AlertEnterprise and has more than 20 years of experience in security, compliance and access management. Prior to Alert Enterprise, Jasvir was the founding CEO of application security company Virsa Systems where he led the design of the Virsa Continuous Compliance Suite. An early pioneer in establishing governance risk and compliance as a software market segment, Jasvir drove the growth of Virsa as an enterprise software provider signing up over 400 major corporations and organizations as customers. Virsa Systems was acquired by SAP in a deal valued at $400 Million. SAP made significant additional investments in this business and went on to sign up over 1,000 enterprise customers under the continued leadership of Jasvir who took on the role of Senior Vice President and General Manger of the SAP GRC Business Unit. Jasvir has personally worked with many of today's largest companies and most recognizable brands to deliver security and controls solutions for risk management and regulatory compliance. Early in his career he was recognized by Kodak and others for developing custom solutions to reduce the high cost of third party audits—long before the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. This experience led to the development of an innovative packaged compliance solution for SAP ERP systems and the adoption of these solutions by hundreds of multinational companies, including SAP. In 2007 Jasvir left SAP to establish AlertEnterprise and implement his vision to deliver the next generation of security applications. |

25 years in the computer networking and telecommunications industry. Prior to Cisco, Jerry led next generation networking initiatives in a research and development group, helping to drive the deployment and adoption of emerging technologies. These projects included the evolution of large scale, multi-protocol LANs and WANs; serving the needs of both Internet computing and real time applications such as voice and video conferencing. Since joining Cisco in 1996, Jerry has held consulting systems engineering and systems engineering management roles. He now combines his extensive cross-industry experience in business and technology to help lead the evolution of the Smart Grid. |

John O'Neill is a Professional Engineer licensed in the province of Ontario and has 30 years experience in a variety of fields. Past assignments include 8 years in applications engineering in the manufacturing sector and certification of electrical and electronic equipment to product safety standards. In his capacity as Co-ordinator – Engineering & Operations, Mr. O'Neill has provided direction and support over a period of 12 years to technical committees of an industry association representing municipal electrical utilities. During this period he was involved with the development of guidelines and recommendations on electric utility engineering and operations practice, managed a research & development program, developed technical bulletins and newsletters and organized technical conferences and seminars. For the past 10 years John has been a Project Manager with the Canadian Standards Association, with particular focus on development of standards related to electrical utility distribution and transmission equipment including the Canadian Electrical Code Part III and Electrical Engineering Standards. |

Ken Quesnelle was appointed a full-time member of the Ontario Energy Board in August 2005. Mr. Quesnelle is the former vice-president and assistant general manager of Woodstock Hydro Services Inc. and past chair of the Electricity Distributors Association. He was a very active participant in the remodeling of the electricity distribution sector in Ontario as it transitioned to the current commercial framework. Mr. Quesnelle has over 30 years of experience in the utility business which includes electricity and water distribution as well as water supply and related environmental protection. |

Dr. Lisa Dignard-Bailey is Program Director for the Integration of Renewable and Distributed Energy Resources at CanmetNERGY - Natural Resources Canada. The program's objective is to support energy science and technology efforts that will contribute to the modernization of the electricity grid network, enhance the benefits of renewable energy resources, increase diversity and reliability of supply, and facilitate recovery after disruptions. This includes support for the development of supportive policies and regulations to address barriers to the interconnection of clean energy and the implementation of smart grid technologies. She is involved in the development of international standards on communication systems for distributed energy resources IEC TC57 working group 17, a member of the Canadian Standards Association committee responsible for solar energy standards, and chair of the Canadian IEC TC 82 responsible for solar photovoltaic energy systems. |

Norm Fraser has more than 30 years of experience in the electricity industry in the areas of power system planning, design and operations. Before joining Hydro Ottawa in 2000, he held senior positions at Hydro One and its predecessor, Ontario Hydro. Norm holds an Honours bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. As Chief Operating Officer, Norm is responsible for all of Hydro Ottawa's operational activities including distribution planning, system operations, distribution design and construction, field operations, billing, metering and customer communications. In this role, he ensures the company's focus remains on customer satisfaction, system reliability, financial results, safety, and productivity. |
Paul Molitor, Director of Smart Grid, NEMA (USA)

Paul A. Molitor serves as the Director of Smart Grid for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association in Rosslyn, VA. On behalf of the 450 member companies of NEMA, Mr. Molitor is responsible for monitoring and interfacing with electric utilities, manufacturers, and federal agencies on Smart Grid issues. Mr. Molitor also provides information, direction, and support to the NEMA Government Relations, Technical Services, and Industry Operations groups who manage policy and technical issues related to standards and protocols for U.S. and International Smart Grid activities. Mr. Molitor is the NEMA voting representative on the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), and a nominee to the U.S. Department of Commerce Industry Trade Advisory Council for Energy and Energy Services (ITAC-6). Mr. Molitor is a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society and the IEEE Standards Association. He has had several Smart Grid articles published in U.S. and International publications, and is a frequent panelist on Smart Grid related topics. |

After 20 years in the unregulated utility sector, Richard recently joined the regulated Hydro One Networks to work in a Corporate Development Role focused on the various aspects of Smart Metering and Smart Networking. His early utility focus was on project financed and acquisition activities in Central and South America followed by equity spin-offs of the utility in high-technology start-up ventures. In 2000, Richard assisted with the structuring and launch of Hydro One Telecom Inc. and assumed the role of Director, Carrier Relations where he was responsible for fibre network acquisitions and structuring reciprocal interconnection agreements with domestic and international telecommunications carriers. Richard holds an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a MBA from McMaster University. |

Terry Mohn, Vice Chairman, GridWise Alliance

Terry Mohn is the Chief Innovation Officer and Vice President for BAE Systems newly formed Balance Energy group and located in San Diego. He is responsible for ensuring clean and renewable electric generation can reliably meet the demands of utilities, municipalities and communities. This includes advancing BAE Systems technology portfolio and capabilities towards emerging integrated microgrids and sustainable community solutions. Terry was previously chief technology strategist for the Sempra Energy utilities, with emphasis on smart grid. He specializes in the clean energy and the improvement of the electric grid by using modern technology. He has 30 years' experience in large-scale system architecture, business strategy, and technology investment strategy. Terry specializes in the business integration of technologies, primarily supporting smart grid, home automation systems, communication systems, distribution automation, smart metering, demand response, and sense and control. He also is very involved in technology research, funding and commercialization and works closely with major California universities. Terry presently serves as Vice Chairman of the GridWise Alliance, a consortium of public and private stakeholders who share a vision and stewardship that the nation's electric system must modernize for the country to remain competitive on the world market. Prior to his energy roles, Terry was chief technology officer for an international broadband media company and founder of two Internet companies. |
